Jara by Ponsa is a Oriental Woody fragrance for women and men. This is a new fragrance. Jara was launched in 2025. The nose behind this fragrance is Alejandro Ponsà. Top notes are White Pepper, Bergamot and Petitgrain; middle notes are Black Spruce, Rosemary, Labdanum, Oakmoss, Galbanum and elemi; base notes are Myrrh, Oud, Patchouli, Labdanum, Vanilla, Black Musk, Amber Xtreme and Resin. Jara, our precious flower, to which I wanted to pay tribute to my mother's homeland: Zamora, the province in Spain that produces the most Jara, and focus my latest creation on it. Jara grows mainly on the Iberian Peninsula, where it is used in perfumery for its fragrant oleoresin known as Ládano, which has an exquisite aroma and great fixing power. It has also been used throughout history as a healing and disinfectant, among other properties. One of the techniques used to collect it was to let sheep roam freely among the rockrose bushes, allowing the animals to become impregnated with labdanum in their coats, which the shepherd would then comb out to separate the resin from the animal's wool. Legend has it that during the war of independence against the French, rockrose hid Spaniards persecuted by Napoleon's army, saving the lives of many of them. Jara is a perfume that will transport you back in time to the 1920s. It evokes the scents of old beauty salons, filled with aromas dominated by rockrose, with woody, musky and light sweet nuances.
