Emerald Ambergris by Gallagher Fragrances is a Woody Aquatic fragrance for women and men. Emerald Ambergris was launched in 2024. The nose behind this fragrance is Daniel Gallagher. Introducing Emerald Ambergris, a fragrance crafted with genuine Celtic Ambergris, a prized treasure sourced from the shores of Ireland. This rare and precious substance, revered for centuries in the world of perfumery, lends a distinct depth and longevity to the fragrance, ensuring an enduring olfactory experience that improves with time. "Emerald Ambergris was inspired by my desire to utilize genuine ambergris tincture in a formula. As we fragrance connoisseurs know, real ambergris is very expensive, and while often cited as a note in a fragrance, these fragrances do not actually contain any real ambergris. The real ambergris utilized in Emerald Ambergris makes up 2.00% of the formula and was sourced from a trusted purveyor in Ireland (Patrick Lillis of Celtic Ambergris), whose expertise and dedication are highlighted in the documentary “Nose,” featuring former Dior in-house perfumer, François Demachy. Ambergris has a distinctive aroma that is often described as musky, earthy, woody (a la sandalwood), and sweet, with hints of marine and floral notes. However, it can vary in scent depending on factors such as its age, source, and processing method. Fresh ambergris (often black in color) normally has a more pronounced presence in overall scent volume, whereas aged ambergris (often between gray and white in color) tends to develop a more complex aroma, described as warm and sensual, but often softer in overall olfactive presence. In fact, professionally-aged ambergris tincture may have a very faint olfactive presence, but its magic comes in the form of its fixative qualities, leading to a fragrance that will last longer on skin, but may not shout. Trying to build a fragrance around (or “on top of”) ambergris was a challenge in and of itself, given I did not want to completely bury the scent of the ambergris, but also had to ensure that the result was an actual wearable fragrance. Enter: Emerald Ambergris." (a note from the perfumer) Emerald Ambergris opens with zesty Bergamot and Green Mandarin providing a burst of freshness that unfolds with creamy, ever-so-slightly indolic Orange Blossom and Jasmine. As the fragrance develops, earthy richness of Patchouli and Cedarwood emerges, complemented by the briefly smoky nuances of Vetiver and Leather creating a sophisticated fragrance profile that will surely be an enjoyable wear. Only one batch of Emerald Ambergris was made with the quantity of Celtic Ambergris we acquired. Supply is incredibly limited, and we do not plan to make another batch.
