1651 (Boscobel Rose) by Scents of Man is a Floral fragrance for women and men. This is a new fragrance. 1651 (Boscobel Rose) was launched in 2025. The nose behind this fragrance is Andrea Byrne. Top notes are Rose, Violet, Pink Grapefruit and Geranium; middle notes are Damask Rose, Loukhoum, Honey and Vanilla; base notes are Rose, Jasmine Sambac, Magnolia and Benzoin. This deep rose perfume is base on one, particular rose, the beautiful Boscobel Rose. According to tradition, a wild rose grew around the hollowed oak at Boscobel House. When King Charles II fled from the Parliamentary troops at the Battle of Worcester in 1651, he hid there and the rose helped to conceal him from view. The “Boscobel rose” then became a romantic emblem of loyalty and refuge. This is a rose-lovers perfume; it sits between a centifolia and a damascena profile: full-bodied, with facets of bright fresh red fruits, warm tea, and soft resin. The distinctive cantaloupe-melon nuance, often present in true rose absolutes, is apparent from the opening notes. To this is added a dewy, almost translucent, honeyed sweetness and that Turkish Delight, just below strains of magnolia and jasmine, warmed by amber strains. It is opulent yet naturalistic and the combination gives the impression of sun-warmed petals after the rain...a rose with both lively brightness and antique depth.
