Top notes are Orange Blossom and Cosmofruit™ (IFF); middle notes are Pistachio Spread Cream, Cinnamon and Tonka Bean; base notes are Saffiano Leather, Amber, Vanilla and Tobacco. Velvet Tonka Extrait by BDK Parfums is a richer, more intense interpretation of the brand’s tonka-centered theme, inspired by founder David Benedek’s memories of Moroccan gazelle horn pastries enjoyed at his grandmother’s home in Paris. The fragrance focuses on tonka bean, presented with greater roundness, a denser texture, and an emphasized amber facet that recalls sweet, nutty pastry nuances. The composition introduces roasted pistachio cream as a key element, adding a creamy, nutty layer that interacts with orange blossom, vanilla, and leather to create depth and contrast. “I wanted a more carnal, more textured fragrance, a gourmand elixir without ever losing its sensuality,” explains Alexandra Carlin, senior perfumer at IFF.
