No. 16 by Henry Jacques is a fragrance for women and men. No. 16 was launched in 2019. "We are proud to introduce the second couple in our tale of Les Toupies. Two new characters who add a new dimension to this magical story of life and romance. They go by the mysterious names of “16” and “81”. A mystery that will soon be revealed. The Masterpieces of Henry Jacques represent the quintessence of the Maison’s art of Great Perfumery. So, naturally, every crystal container must be conceived, designed and crafted individually, in parallel with the perfume it will contain. This complex artistry – an almost mystical interdependence of fragrance and flacon – has become intrinsic to Henry Jacques’s work. This new diptych represents a new impulse – a new creative period for Henry Jacques. Inventive, evocative and avant-garde, No.16 & No.81 are deeply rooted in the values of classical Haute Parfumerie and yet unconstrained by traditional rules. The fruit of two years of exploration, they represent a creative journey through less-travelled landscapes of the olfactory world. They are truly modern perfumes – a new kind of artistic expression, rather than a quest into past. Composed of intricate and beautifully balanced layers, they are elevated by the inclusion of lesser known ingredients. No.81 opens with Bergamot and the vivid, citrusy presence of Grapefruit, then deepens through layers of smoke and wood, where subtle spicy notes add mystery and complexity. Rose de Mai, a great pillar of traditional perfumery, lies at the heart of No.16 and yet it never imposes its presence. Subtle and evocative, it lends warmth and richness to the lively floral opening and honeyed trail. Similarly, the crystal flacons for No.16 & No.81 were designed by our Artistic Director, Christophe Tollemer, with deep respect for historic codes – but they are not bound to the past or limited by convention. The forms are confident, energetic, boldly architectural – their strong angles and clean lines juxtaposing each other in perfect three-dimensional symmetry. Transforming these lines into a three-dimensional crystal object, was a complex and daunting task for the artisans specially commissioned by Henry Jacques. As the light plays across their facets, their silhouettes appear almost futuristic, their edges and angles playing off each other like an infinity mirror. With their modern attitude and confident character, the second edition of Les Toupies, No. 16 & No.81 invite us to look forward, not back – creating our own fantasies, telling our own stories, building our own new memories." - a note from the brand.
