Top notes are Bergamot, Nutmeg, Mate and Cardamom; middle notes are Diviniris, Geranium, Clove and Rock rose; base notes are Cedarwood, Musk, Patchouli, Amber, Sandalwood, Vanilla, Vetiver and Styrax. was™ by Neandertal is a unisex fragrance introduced in 2025 as part of the is™ and was™ duo. It develops from warm, woody and spicy facets into a soft iris heart shaped by the material Diviniris, highlighting an interplay between iris and woods. The composition settles into amber and clove, with bitter-green accents of geranium and yerba mate over cedarwood, vetiver, sandalwood, styrax, vanilla, and musk. The duo was conceived to accompany the brand’s conceptual line, reflecting on questions around human and synthetic creation. One half of is/was was formulated by Artificial Intelligence the other by a Team consisting of Issac Sinclair, Fanny Grau and Nicolaj Koralewicz.
