Shichitoi Tatami by Raphael Perfumery is a 100% natural fragrance inspired by traditional Japanese tatami mats woven from Shichitōi wood. The scent aims to evoke the quiet atmosphere of a ryokan, reflecting the soft, temperature-regulating and sound-absorbing qualities associated with tatami, as well as a sense of calm and understated refinement drawn from centuries-old Japanese domestic culture. The composition combines gentle grassy and green nuances of Flouve Absolute, Hay Absolute and violet leaf with the cool elegance of orris butter. These are contrasted with a slightly pungent and animalic undertone from Siberian Deer Musk and deep, resinous agarwood. Pink pepper, hop and the woods of hinoki and amyris add lift and structure, resulting in a woody, aromatic profile that balances softness, dryness and subtle depth.
