Top notes are Mezcal, Metallic notes, Citron, Chili Pepper and Pepper; middle notes are Rose, Pomegranate, Leather and Hyrax; base notes are Iris, Sandalwood, gunpowder and Guaiac Wood. Contre Culture by Fakoshima is a neo-chypre composition that combines a slightly smoky note of mezcal with a sour-spicy accord of Bengali pepper, vegetable sangrita, citron, and metallic notes. These elements rest on a dense smoky-leathery base of gunpowder, resinous guaiac, and mineral hyrax. The tartness of pomegranate, the tannin of centifolia rose, and the softness of sandalwood, balanced by iris oil, add additional depth to the composition.
