An Indian Summer by La Fleur by Livvy is a Oriental Spicy fragrance for women and men. An Indian Summer was launched in 2020. The nose behind this fragrance is Olivia Larson. Top notes are Fennel and Lemon Verbena; middle notes are Pandanus, Curry Tree, Coconut, Butter, White Lotus, Coriander, Ginger and Jasmine; base notes are Styrax, Hay and Patchouli. "La Fleur By Livvy’s perfumes always have a story to tell. This time let us whisk you away to India… The afternoon heat seemed to have gotten to her. The hot balmy air blew gently on her face as though intentionally trying to get her to nod off. Nora dozed off in her chair; the novel she was reading was still sitting on her lap. The characters were fascinating and belonged to another time, another world; of a period in history when the East India Company traded antiques, cottons, silks and spices around the world. A life filled with adventure and travel. As she slipped into a gentle sleep, she could hear the gramophone play her favorite melodies. The Ayah brought her a glass of Lime Cordial and set it down next to her. You could smell the lime in the air. Cook was busy making a concoction of curry mixed with spices. The jasmines bloomed in the garden and somehow managed to lace the air with their heady scent. As part of the Tales Of India Collection, An Indian Summer is an intoxicating blend of the sights and scents of India. The tangy lime top note leads like a cologne and is so refreshing you’ll want to drink it all in, just like the cooling lime cordials often served in the Indian heat in days gone by; a slight reminder of the Raj. Lighter perfumes such as this are trending, and are often preferable during the heatwaves (and fires!) we are experiencing globally. "Our natural fragrances are not intended to overwhelm the presence in the room. They are soft, subtle and sensuous." Underneath the burst of lime is a trip to the Eastern spice bazaar; dusty, hot, and bustling. In the perimeter jasmine bushes perfume the air. The variety of aromatic spices including fennel, curry leaf, coriander, and ginger waft together like a homemade coconut curry dish. The fennel is particularly present and lovely but all the spices are popular and have been regularly traded with the West since at least the sixteenth century. Today they are recognized and enjoyed by olfactory connoisseurs the worldwide, crossing from food to fragrance. This juxtaposition of cool and warm notes is woven together by the natural body musk of the spice vendors and women shopping in jewel-toned saris. In the dry down it is apparent that the musk is from patchouli. And patchouli is another typical scent of India originally gaining popularity in the Victorian era when the East India Trading Company packed patchouli leaves in with the cashmere items being sent west to prevent moths from eating the wool. To wear a patchouli-scented shawl was a sign of upper class. Not only is An Indian Summer a slice of history and nostalgia, but it also maintains a contemporary unisex edge." - a note from the brand.
